Learning Chinese by Guessing Riddles

This year the Chinese School hosted a three-week activity of learning Chinese by guessing at riddles. It generated lots of enthusiasm and we witnessed a huge participation from both parents and students.  Guessing at riddles is both a traditional and creative way of learning Chinese words. The school collected 101 riddles, 65 of which were for students with the intent to challenge their academic intelligence. 36 riddles were designed for parents to keep them awake during the three hours of waiting. The   riddles covered a variety of topics, including puzzles of Chinese characters, hints for Chinese idioms, geography and other natural phenomenon. Challenging riddles may lead us to a maze, but create a path when our thoughts go through the maze.

With great enthusiasm and strong determination, our parents and students have managed to walk through the maze and overcome the hurdles. What a joy to finally get all answers correct!
