Chinese School News from the Principal

1) School is looking for a teacher teaching the simplified character class of 5-year-olds. We are looking at the possibility of dividing the current 5-year-olds group into 2 classes so the class size and teacher/student ratio will become more desirable. If you or someone you know have interest in the job, please contact the school administrator Weiqing Chen at 782-9003 or Guoping Fei at 439-5056.
2) Chinese School student Hudson Duan will start a math discussion class on 10/2 at the Chinese School for high achieving 7th and 8th graders, as well as 10th and 11th graders preparing to take the SAT, or SAT II Math IC, or IIC. Hudson has had outstanding accomplishment in math. He was the 11th place State Mathcounts competition finalist, receiver of 800 on PSAT math, and SAT II Math IIC and IC. The class will meet on Sundays for 50 minutes to an hour during the 3rd period of Chinese School in room C105. 3) School encourages all students donate to Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita victims. The school is collecting donation to send to The Red Cross. You can find the collection box when you walk in to the school. The suggested donation is $2. Parents please help your children learning the importance of reaching out to help the needed. Your effort is much appreciated. We also invite all CCC members to join us.
4) There is a parent meeting on 10/16, at 1:30pm in the auditorium. We will talk about the school operation plan, school budget, activities, and have open discussion. There will be a movie show after the meeting, "Who Says I Don't Care" 谁说我不在乎. We hope every Chinese School family will have at lease one parent coming to the meeting.
5) School will have its first language/culture activity, "Solving Chinese Riddle, Learning Chinese Language", in October. It will run for 3 weekends, 10/16, 10/23 and 10/30.
6) Photo Show. The Chinese School is planning to have a "Photo Show".  The purpose of this event is to introduce scenery or culture around the world.  We encourage all CCC members to submit your favorite photos you took from your memorable trips.  Please contact Shao Lin at 439-6789 (H) or e-mail to: SXL05@HEALTH.STATE.NY.US if you are interested. We just need regular size of your picture (4*6) and will return the photo to you without damage.  Please attach a short note to indicate where you took these pictures when you submit your photos.
